Tyr 2 S/PDIF and AES/EBU digital leads are produced using cutting-edge technology, adherence to standards, and precision in workmanship. This extra attention given to our cables during the production phase guarantees the tight tolerance of characteristic impedance necessary to ensure greater musical detail, virtually unimpeded by timing errors or destructive jitter. At their base, both the 75 Ohm and 110 Ohm cables are constructed using silver-plated, solid core, conductors which are suspended in Nordost’s patented Dual Mono-Filament technology, creating a virtual air dielectric.

Nordost’s new Tyr 2 Power Cord benefits from the extensive research made in creating Valhalla 2, therefore extending our celebrated Norse 2 cable range into the realm of our Reference line. By employing Nordost’s proprietary Dual Mono-Filament technology, which is also found in Valhalla 2, the Tyr 2 Power Cord is able to achieve the most effective insulation method in the indust ry, putting this cable a step above its Norse brothers and bounds ahead of the competition. This cable consists of 7 silver plated, solid core 16 AWG OFC conductors, which eliminate strand interaction, hot spots and carbonization to ensure optimum performance. The use of these conductors also allows complete material consistency with Norse 2 interconnects and speaker cables.

This essential upgrade completely eliminates the negative effects of strand interaction and skin effect. Each of the four 20 AWG, solid core conductors is then wrapped in Nordost’s proprietary Dual Mono-Filament technology before being enclosed in extruded FEP, which lowers the capacitance of the cable, both increasing signal speed and bandwidth.

The V2 interconnect is offered with either RCA or XLR HOLO:PLUG® connectors.

The Valhalla 2 4K Ultra High Definition Cable was purpose built, from design to material, in order to optimize high speed digital signaling, while eliminating harmful factors such as jitter, timing errors and crosstalk. The V2 4K UHD cable is constructed using 24 AWG silver-plated, solid core conductors, which allows the flow of ultra-high frequency current, used to carry TMDS (Transition Minimized Differential Signaling), to reach critical speeds for excellent data transfer. Nordost’s proprietary Micro Mono-Filament technology is then implemented, permitting the current and voltage to travel above the conductor’s surface, virtually unimpeded by insulation.

The cable consists of 7 solid, silver-plated 16 AWG OFC conductors, each suspended in a Dual Mono-Filament matrix. The separate solid core conductors eliminate strand interaction, hot spots, and carbonization, which can occur in stranded cables. 

The Valhalla 2 Reference Speaker Cable consists of twenty-eight conductors divided into four groups of seven. Each conductor is made from solid core 99.999999% oxygen free copper and plated with 85 microns of silver. A Dual Mono-Filament wrap is applied and helically wound around each conductor before a precision FEP jacket is extruded over the outside. The transmission speed of the cable is extremely fast, at 97% the speed of light. V2 exemplifies state of the art technology with very wide bandwidth signals and minimum phase shift.

The Valhalla 2 USB 2.0 is revolutionary in terms of USB cable design. For the first time, Nordost is introducing a flat, twin-axial geometry to its USB cables. This innovative layout allows the two signal wires to run parallel, compared to the standard twisted-pair configuration, shortening the signal path and drastically increasing transfer speeds. Another advantage to a twin-axial design is the ability to separate the power (positive) and ground (negative) legs of the cable, isolating them from signal and each other, minimizing the effects of harmful interference.
